Overview
The Official N-Word Pass Card is the flagship product of the N-Word Pass organization and the only physical N-Word Pass backed by a registered trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It is a matte-black metal card, laser engraved with an individual verification code, and shipped in branded packaging to holders worldwide.
This page serves as the definitive reference for the card: its specifications, the certification process behind each unit, how verification works, why we chose the materials we did, and how to acquire one when stock allows. If you have arrived here looking for a piece of plastic with “N-Word Pass” printed on it from a novelty shop, you are in the wrong place. We do not produce novelty items. We produce artifacts.

Card Specifications
The Official N-Word Pass Card is engineered to a standard that reflects the gravity of the credential it represents. The following specifications apply to all current-production units:
Material: Matte-black anodized stainless steel, 0.8mm thickness. The card has the weight and feel of a premium credit card. It does not bend, crease, or degrade under normal carrying conditions. It will survive a washing machine cycle, a dropped coffee, and the kind of nervous pocket-fumbling that tends to occur when someone realizes they are holding an N-Word Pass in public.
Dimensions: 85.6mm x 53.98mm, conforming to the ISO/IEC 7810 ID-1 standard. This is the same form factor as a standard credit card, debit card, or government-issued ID. The card fits in any wallet, cardholder, or lanyard sleeve designed for standard identification. We chose this format deliberately. The card should sit alongside your driver’s license and your health insurance card, occupying the same physical and psychological space as documents you consider legitimate. That tension is architectural.
Surface Treatment: The front face features laser-engraved text and design elements on a matte-black background. Laser engraving is permanent. It does not fade, chip, or wear under standard use. The engraving reveals the bare metal beneath the anodized surface, producing a subtle contrast between matte black and brushed silver.
Front Face Elements: The card displays the Official N-Word Pass logo, the registered trademark symbol, the holder’s unique verification code, and the text “OFFICIAL N-WORD PASS” in uppercase. A thin border frames the card edge. No photographs, no holograms, no decorative flourishes. The design language is institutional, not ornamental.
Rear Face Elements: The back of the card carries the organization’s web address, a QR code linking to the verification portal, and the following disclaimer text: “This card is a satirical collectible and does not grant permission to use racial slurs.” We are legally required to include this. We are also legally required to tell you that we are legally required to include this. (We are not. But it felt right.)
Verification Code: Each card is assigned a unique alphanumeric verification code at the time of production. This code is engraved on the front face and registered in our database. No two cards share a code. The code cannot be transferred, duplicated, or reassigned. It is linked to the original order and remains active unless revoked by the Board of Review.
The Certification Process
Every Official N-Word Pass Card passes through a certification process before it ships. This process exists because we believe that if you are going to produce a satirical credential, the least you can do is apply actual quality control, something that cannot be said for most real credentials.
Step 1: Production. Cards are manufactured in batches by our production partner. Each batch undergoes material inspection for consistency in thickness, anodization quality, and surface finish. Cards with visible imperfections, uneven anodization, or engraving defects are removed from the production run.
Step 2: Code Assignment. Each card receives its unique verification code. Codes are generated using a proprietary system and are not sequential. You cannot guess the next code in the series. You cannot derive one code from another. The system is designed to prevent counterfeiting, which is a sentence we never expected to write about a satirical product but here we are.
Step 3: Database Registration. The verification code is entered into our secure database alongside the order information. This step links the physical card to its digital record and enables the verification process described below.
Step 4: Quality Check. A final visual inspection confirms that the engraving is legible, the card is free of cosmetic defects, and the verification code matches the database entry. Cards that fail this step are destroyed. We do not sell seconds.
Step 5: Packaging and Shipment. Approved cards are placed in branded packaging and shipped to the holder. The packaging includes a brief welcome letter from the organization, care instructions (not that the card needs them, but the gesture matters), and a reminder that the card does not actually grant permission to say the N-word. This reminder appears at every stage of the process because repetition is how institutions communicate.
How Verification Works
The verification system allows anyone to confirm that a given N-Word Pass Card is genuine. This is useful in situations where the authenticity of a card is questioned, which, given the nature of the product, is most situations.
Method 1: QR Code. Scan the QR code on the rear of the card using any smartphone camera. The code directs to our verification portal, where the card’s status is displayed. Active cards return a confirmation. Revoked cards return a notice of revocation. Invalid codes return nothing, which is its own kind of statement.
Method 2: Manual Entry. Visit the verification portal directly and enter the card’s alphanumeric code. The system returns the same results as the QR method. Manual entry is available for situations where QR scanning is impractical, such as when the card is being examined through a glass display case, which is a scenario that has apparently come up more than once.
Method 3: Visual Inspection. Counterfeit N-Word Passes lack the weight, finish, and engraving quality of the genuine article. A real card weighs noticeably more than a printed copy. The engraving is recessed into the metal surface, not printed on top of it. The matte-black finish is uniform and free of texture inconsistencies. If the card feels like something you printed at a FedEx Office, it is something you printed at a FedEx Office.
The verification system does not store personal information about cardholders. It confirms only that a given code corresponds to a legitimate card and whether that card’s status is active or revoked. We take privacy seriously, which is why we built a verification system that verifies the card and not the person. The person’s credentials are between them, their community, and whatever deity or moral framework governs their decision-making.
History of the Card’s Development
The N-Word Pass Card did not begin as a metal card. The earliest versions of the project focused on the website and the evaluations. The card emerged from a simple observation: the N-Word Pass meme had always been visual. People shared images of cards, certificates, and documents. The format demanded a physical object.
The first prototypes were printed on cardstock. They were functional as conversation starters but lacked the gravitas that the project required. A laminated piece of paper does not command the same attention as a metal card. It does not produce the same reaction when pulled from a wallet. It does not force the same reckoning.
We explored several materials during development: PVC plastic (too flimsy, too reminiscent of gift cards), wood (interesting but prone to splitting), acrylic (visually appealing but scratched too easily), and aluminum (lighter than we wanted). Stainless steel in a matte-black anodized finish provided the combination of weight, durability, and visual authority that the product required.
The design went through multiple iterations. Early versions included more text, a photograph of Breshawn White, and a decorative border pattern. Each revision removed elements until we arrived at the current design, which communicates through restraint rather than excess. The card says what it needs to say and nothing more. Like all good credentials, it derives authority from what it omits.
The verification system was added in the second production run after we discovered that counterfeit N-Word Passes were circulating online. People were printing their own copies of our card design. The counterfeits lacked the metal construction and trademark protections of the genuine article, but they demonstrated a demand that we had underestimated. The verification code system ensures that only cards produced by our organization can be confirmed as authentic.
Why Metal?
This question comes up in nearly every interview, and the answer has not changed. We chose metal because satire committed to the fullest degree is funnier than satire that hedges.
A plastic card says “novelty item.” A paper card says “printer project.” A metal card says “institution.” The weight in your hand, the sound it makes when you set it on a table, the look on someone’s face when they pick it up and realize it is heavier than their actual credit card: these are design decisions, not material choices.
The matte-black finish was selected for similar reasons. Gloss finishes read as consumer products. Matte finishes read as government documents, military credentials, and executive access cards. The N-Word Pass should feel like it was issued by an organization with a building, a board, and a budget. Because it was.
Metal also solved a practical problem. Plastic cards warp, crack, and fade. Paper cards deteriorate. Our holders carry the card in wallets, attach it to keychains, display it on shelves, and (in at least one documented case) frame it alongside a college diploma. The card needed to withstand the same conditions as any other card in a wallet, plus the additional handling that comes from being shown to approximately everyone the holder encounters for the first two weeks after receiving it.
We considered offering a plastic “economy” version and decided against it. Offering a cheaper alternative would undermine the premise. The N-Word Pass is one thing. There are no tiers. There are no premium upgrades. Every holder receives the same card, with the same materials, through the same process. Equality is the foundation of the project, and the product reflects that. Current Availability
The Official N-Word Pass Card is currently sold out. This is not a marketing tactic. We produce cards in limited batches, and each batch sells out faster than the previous one. Demand has exceeded production capacity since the second run.
We do not announce restock dates in advance because doing so crashes the website. The last time we posted a restock date on social media, the resulting traffic took the site offline for four hours, during which time we received approximately 2,000 emails asking if the site was down. It was. We know.
To be notified when the card is back in stock, visit the shop and join the mailing list. Restock notifications are sent by email only. We do not announce restocks on social media until units are already available, and by then, most of them are already spoken for.
If you encounter someone selling “Official N-Word Pass” cards through a third-party marketplace, those are counterfeits. We do not authorize resellers. We do not distribute through Amazon, eBay, Etsy, or any other platform. All legitimate cards are sold exclusively through our shop. Counterfeit cards can be reported through our contact page, and we appreciate the diligence, though we should note that we receive more counterfeit reports than we can reasonably investigate, which is both flattering and exhausting.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Card
Is the card a toy? No. Toys are for children. The Official N-Word Pass Card is a trademarked satirical collectible for adults. It is also made of metal, which makes it a poor toy by any safety standard.
Can I engrave my name on it? The card ships with a verification code, not a personal name. Adding custom engraving would require modifications to the production process that we are not currently equipped to offer. If you engrave your name on it yourself, we cannot guarantee that the card will still be accepted by our verification system, mostly because the verification system does not check for names, but also because we cannot endorse freelance metalwork.
Does the card expire? No. The card does not carry an expiration date. However, the Board of Review reserves the right to revoke any verification code at any time, which would render the card’s status inactive in our system. The physical card would still exist as an object. It would simply no longer verify as active. Think of it like a passport from a dissolved nation: still a fascinating artifact, no longer valid for travel.
Can I return the card? All sales are final. We accept returns only for cards that arrive damaged or defective. If your card arrived in perfect condition but you changed your mind about owning an N-Word Pass, that is a personal journey we cannot assist with.
